| About Mystic BBS: | ||
| Mystic BBS is a bulletin board system (BBS) software in the vein of other "forum hack" style software such as Renegade, Oblivion/2, and Iniquity. Like many of its counterparts it features a high degree of relatively easy customization thanks to its ACS based menu system along with fully editable strings and ANSI themes. Mystic also includes its own Pascal like MPL scripting language for even further flexibility. Mystic started development in 1994 by James Coyle (AKA "g00r00") with its first public release in 1997. Mystic continued to be steadily updated until sometime after the release of version 1.07.3 in 2001. Along with v1.08, a v2.0, Win32 centric version was being coded from scratch but was never finished. Mystic's source code has never been released though it is rumored that its release is forthcoming. Despite no development and little author support for many years Mystic remains popular thanks to a combination of an "old school" DOS feel and a selection of more modern features such as a native telnet server, DOOR32 support, and Win32 and Linux ports. This temporary site was setup as a result of the aforementioned lack of author support to act as a distribution point for the software and, in future revisions, to provide support for Mystic SysOps and modders with the addition of a forum. |
